Ok, let me add something useful to this, so that I'm not a total *****. I'm sure many of you have noticed, that when the air gets colder, like on those crisp fall nights, your car gets a bit faster. Well, mine gets a LOT faster. Like above normal expected gain. Now, I have a ZZ9 cam with 1.6 rockers, ported edelbrock performer rpm heads, as&m siamesed runners, 58mm tb, ported plenum, etc etc.....

now, when I had the heads done, my guy flowed not only the heads, but the entire intake track as well, from the throttlebody right to the chamber on the heads. The numbers are dismal compared to just the heads by themselves. Now, my theory is that my intake system is really choking off airflow, due to the fact that the car responds so dramatically with just the slightest increase in airflow (in this case, more densely packed air).

Now, I do have my old set of SLP runners which I ported a little further than original, and also had them extrude honed. Opinions wanted here please.

Given the above information, do ya'll think I should take my SLP's, and try to port them all the way through (siamese), and port the Accel base, or ditch them altogether (along with the AS&M siamese runners), and go with a stealth ram, or LT1 intake. I really prefer the look of the stock TPI system, but if I have to go with something more wild then so be it.

 

including the runner length in the heads, I'd say 8-10".

 

the steath ram intake runners from cylinderhead to plenum floor are about 6.3" long theres another 3.3" of plenum above the runner enterance and dont forget theres another 3+" of runner length that effects the tuneing in the cylinder head, the EFFECTIVE RUNNER length depends on the cylinder head you use but will be about 9.5"
