Help w/ neg battery cable ground
I am just finishing a project on my 91 Trans Am 305. I put on headers, rebuilt heads and so on, and forgot where the negative battery cable is supposed to be grounded. Last night I put it on the same bolt where the fuel lines bolt to thebig bracket that holds the power steering pump / alternator, two inches from the head.
1) Any ideas where it is really supposed to go. It worked last night, but I'd like to get it right.
2) Any opinions on timing would also be appreciated. We got it as close to 6* BTDC as possible. Do you think I should pay a shop to run it on the scan tool to check for knock counts, and just give it a good once over?
Guess I am just a little nervous cause I've never got that deep into my own car before, other people's stuff, but not my own. ANy suggestions would be great. THanks.

On my 86 305 the negative battery cable grounds just below the pivot bolt for the alternator. Yours may be different since you have a serpentine belt and I have v-belts.

when it comes to the ground cable as long as it is attached to the motor it'll be fine.
taking it to someonr to have it checked out wouldn't be a bad idea.
