Modding a L98 for HP not TQ?
I really want to swap a T5 into my B4C. Unfortunately the stock TQ rating on the L98 exceedes the T5's ratings. I was wondering how you guys would modify the L98 to focus on HP instead of TQ. I know some people have changed the intake to a LT1/StealthRam and end up with more HP, and less TQ. What other types of mods will give these kinds of results? The goal is to get as much HP as possible but not go higher than 330ft/lbs of TQ. Thanks for any help anyone might have.

Even a mildly powerful 350 will have no problem making well over 330 pound feet of torque. The only way to make a 350 make less torque than that is to make it a complete wheezer with no power.
Instead why don't you concentrate on what people have run in front of T5s. Torque doesn't blow them up, abuse does. A basically stock L98 isn't going to pop a T5 unless you like 5k clutch dumps on slicks and powershifting....

Ed pretty much summed it up. There is almost no way you're going to have a respectable amount of power out of that l98 and have under 330 lbs/ft.
If you don't abuse it, it will last...for a while
or you could always go with the t56 too.

Ok, lets change it then. Im a fool for thinking a T5 will handle my street racing antics considering the L98 is a torque motor. Say I stepped up to a T56. Those are rated around 425-450 ft/lbs of torque. Now what would you do with a stock L98 to get max HP but not exceede that TQ limit? Assume money was no object (it is, but I'm curious for ideas). What would be a choice N/A setup and what would be a choice F/I setup? Thanks again!!

Then again if you are willing so spend lots of money you can buy really strong aftermarket T56's but they cost lots of money, they used a t56 in vipers but it is a lot stronger then the ones that they use in the ls1’s

Bah.. T5 works fine here, after 3 seasons of brutal racing.
T5's dont blow up from torque or hp, they blow up from people who can't shift..
