Welcome first of all.
The price you saw was for the complete stand alone SuperRam kit. It comes with the intake parts and a computer and basically all you need to retrofit it into a vehicle. You don't need that if you already have a TPI engine.
The plenum and runners usually go for aroun $750 and the base another $450, new. Thats still alot. the price seems to keep going up.
I'd check the classifieds on this site and ebay for a used setup. I got my used plenum and runners for $600, already ported. I also got an Accel base from a group purchase last year for $315. So if you look around you can save alot.
Also, you could check into the Holley Stealthram or an LT1 intake conversion, both cost alot less. There is alot of info about both of these in this forum right now, shouldn't be hard to find.
good luck
