SR combo questions and switching to roller
I currently have an 86 Z28, with 355, SuperRam plenum, runners, and intake, 58mm TB, 24Lbs injectors, Holley AFPR, World S/R Torquer heads, 2.02 1.6 valves, 170 cc intake runners, 1 5/8's Hooker Shorties, custom y-pipe, and hooker cat back. A slipping 700r4, and 3.42's, and custom chip.
I don't know what the cam is, but I'd like to switch to the LPE 219, but the block is an 84 so it's not roller equipped. What do I need to switch to roller so i can run this cam. I'd like to keep the lifters compatible with AFR's hydra rev kit, due to plans for future motor.
My goal is that i want to beat my friends monte carlo that's running 13.8's right now and be able to run with my friends duster that is running 12.9's.
I have a holley 255lph fuel pump and eibach pro's waiting to be installed.
I'm currently getting codes, 15, and 33. Was getting 44 until my friend and i did the chip. The car just doesn't feel right to me, so I don't know if i can even beat the monte, But I would think with my combo he wouldn't have a chance. I have not raced him yet, can't stand the thought of losing.
Thank you !
Wally

Personally I think that you would be losing some times just from those two fault codes. Other than that, do a search in this forum for this type of question, I think that I have read something here before.

You should be able to get your current combo into the low 13's. You may just need to tune it & check out the codes it's throwing. I ran 13.19 @ 103 with the same combo you have, except it had a Lunati 218/244 @ .489 cam in it & 3.73 gears.

I can't seem to get rid of the code 15 for anything. The 33, i need a new MAF. But since it's starting to get very cold up here, I won't be driving it much more, so I've got all winter to play with it.
I've heard alot of retrofit kits. Is that what i need to switch to roller? I plan on using the Hydra rev kit.
Also, who has good prices on AFR's, and what size would you recommend for my setup. I currently have 67 cc chambers. My, main concern now is getting rid of my codes and getting better posi. My posi only occasionally works, it's been worn out. Right now i'm looking at getting the SLP $99 unit, with 28 spline axles, and 3.73's. Would those gears be too steep to ever drive on the highway?
Thanks!
