LT1 and TV cable question, John??? anyone??

is anyone else having the problem where you cant get the correct pull on your TV cable 'cause of the position of the throttle body relative to the TV cable bracket.

Im gonna have to modify something cause its shifting to early, the 1-2 shift happens like RITE after you start moving, and on the floor it shift at like 4 1/2 grand.

If I do it manually its still pulling at 5200, prolly more, just havent taken it higher.

Are you using the '93 Camaro throttle cable bracket? How's the condition of your TV cable, lock broke?
Here's a picture of my setup, it works so well I've busted the 2-4 band in my 700R4 3 times in the last 2 years.

Yeah I got that bracket, a new TV cable, and tranny only has like less than 5k on it.

It seems like the distance from the bracket to the throttle body is shorter then is used to be. I dunno, I guess we'll have to rig something up.

after hitting a dear 4 hours after I got it back from a 5 month engine install, my shift points are annoying but arent a priority.

I see a trend here. I too have a '93 TV cable. Hummmm, maybe I should start telling people that it is required.

See, my orginal TV cable housing was way too short, but it wasn't the factory one either.

ok, so I should get the cable? Thats easy enough.

John: I have a ? My intake seems to be sealin fine, but the heads for the outer bolts (all bolts except center most 2 on both sides) dont lay flat against the base. they are at like maby a 20 or 30 degree angle, it seels fine, just to be safe everytime it comes off I'm gonna get new bolts in case the old ones are bent.

Mine were the same way and it seemed to be just fine. I asked john about this and he said something about the angle change but it was just fine.

You're outer 4 bolts are not bent, it's an illusion due to the angle change.
There is a gap but it's not the bolts fault, it's the intake was orginally drilled for a differant angle.

OK, at least I'm not crazy. John's website specifically says that the 4 corner bolts on the LT1 intake are correct. Mine were in the right place, but wrong angle. I thought that I was going crazy. I ended up solving the problem by grinding away at the aluminum until the inside was the same thickness as the outside. I figured it was either that, or washers that compensated for the odd angle difference (and I would still need to elongate the bolt holes). I haven't completed all the hose/wiring connections yet, but once I do I'll know for sure if it worked the way I hope. Just looking at it sitting on the motor all torqued down makes me smile!

edit: Oh, and I haven't checked the TV cable on mine yet...sorry.

My cable was too long. For the meantime, I put 5 small zip ties in between the black plastic teardrop thing and the end of the cable.

I realize this looks ghetto as hell but I haven't taken an updated picture, so no comments on the more "rigged" parts that I'm not referring to (ie aluminum tape) . I had the stock 85 TV cable and it seemed that my tranny shifter at HIGHER RPMS after the swap than lower. I thought that maybe the motor now knew it had an LT1 on it . But anyway, to combat the TV cable length problem , my friend Markolch suggested that a core wire stopper be used. That's what they call it at NAPA, all it really is is a bolt that threads past a hole to keep a wire in. This is shown in the attached picture. It's worked great for about a year now with no problems. Are the 93 cables the right lenghth?

I thought about that also, and even bought one, I just didn't want to hack off the end of the TV cable.

Whatever works, works. It doesn't matter how pretty or ugly it is, as long as it works.

yeha when I put the 93 cable in it fit perfect. Everythign was the right lengh. The only thing i rigged was the throttle cable, but it seemed to shift fine.
