Vette heads and EGR questions
I wanted to start a more specific thread, since the last one was gettin' old.
OK, I know there's no provision for the ERG on the vette heads, so that leaves me with 2 question.
First, what do Ineed to do if I chose NOT to use my EGR, and what if I DO want to hook it up. I understand the idea of re-circulating the exhaust gas to reburn some unburnt gasses, but I really don't have a good grasp of the actual plumbing....i.e, how the system is routed etc.

The EGR is used to reduce NOx emissions (NO, NO2, NO3, ect )
It does this by introducing non-combustable material into the intake stream ( exhuast gasses ) therefor lowering temperatures ( and the production of NOx )
So, remove it and your NOx Will likely Go up.
You should have No problem Passing emissions with the EGR non-functional as it is no active during idle, and during the 2500 RPM test your NOX will be naturally lower anyway.
Another positive byproduct of EGR is that the lower combustion temperatures can help to reduce Detonation.
If I were running Ally L98 heads, I would simply leave the EGR valve and all wiring attached to the manifold, Non functional.
Its not gonna make a **** of differance in how your car runs, especially if you have access to the DIY tuning tools.
remember however that EGR is not active during Decel, Idle, or WOT, so its not gonna make a differance in performance either way.
I don't know where you live, but its likely if you have any sort of visual inspection some hoopty corvette style EGR plumbing is not going to pass. Id just leave it off and keep my mouth shut.
