damn timing makes a difference

for a few weeks i couldnt figure out why my car shrugged off my latest round of mods (high flow front ypipe, and DRs). my car ran the exact same 60ft, E/T, and mph as before (13.4s at 102mph). at first, i suspected i had burned out my fuel pump in a race with a supercharged Prelude a few weeks before (i ran him on practically nothing but fumes ). went back to the track after the pump swap, and my times only improved slightly.

so then i was browsing www.corvetteforum.com, and came upon a few threads about timing adjustment. i decded to try bumping my timing up. when i went to check it to get a base reading, it was set at 3* BTDC ! no wonder i was running like crap! so i set it at 9*, went out for a few test runs and got no retard.

went to the track and heres what i came back with:

#1- 13.24 at 103.77 w 1.87 60ft
#2- 13.24 at 104.07 w 1.90 60ft
#3- 13.20 at 104.22 w 1.89 60ft

the Vette launched MUCH harder after the timing adjustment (it would only do a 1.94 60ft before) and my top end felt better also. just goes to show, never overlook the small things

I still like around 12-13 degrees in my car, so you might want to try some more timing. And see what results you get.

Thanks for posting the results.
