I'm selling my L98 motor for $300 with 115,000 miles, with no TPI included. If I was giving the stock TPI with it, I wouldn't want but maybe $100 or $150 on top of that... so I would probably ask $500 for the whole thing expecting to get a little more than $400.

I think he thought you were asking about the TPI setup alone, not including the engine.

yea i didn't think you were takling about the whole block heads and all that, i was referring to the TB, plenum, runners, intake and all that good stuff. but for a whole L98 engine with tpi i'd say 600-700 sounds reasonable

yea that'd be my estimate, anybody else wanna give their opinion? you coudl always check ebay or the classifieds to see what others are going for. And also are we talking about a totally stock engine? or an engine with some porting, polishing, etc. My guess of 6-700 would be for a totally stock engine

Yeah, good point. If the seller admits that he's been into the engine and 'ported' the heads, etc it would be worth even less to me. At least with a stock engine you know what you're getting. Some hack job port job could easily leave you with a set of heads that aren't even good for cores, etc.

well to be honest with you i'm looking to get rid of mine as well and i've seen the majority of them go from 7-900 or so.

now i know with mine i have dyno sheets of what it's working right now with the miles that are on it as well as i don't plan on removing the engine unless i go to build or replace it so whomever were to buy it could drive the car with it and see that it works well.

i would figure 900 would be a fair price since you would know exactly what your getting.........would i be wrong?

o yeah, i'm sure you guys know what it looks like, not that it matters resale wise; but it isn't like picking one out of a junkyard.

If the buyer trusts you, or they can see it run, no smoke, clean oil and coolant, etc and all that, then yeah, $900 or even more really isn't out of the question.

Devoid of those kind of comforting facts though and an advertised '100k mile L98' would mean to me, shot to hell core 350 w/ TPI setup. You know what i mean.

don't want to say until it's done.............rather than speaking to soon ya know!

yeah, i figure if you can actually see the part work in person then that can make a world of difference; i know it would to me. if not then it would be cheaper to keep as a spare than give it away for a couple hundred bucks.

to me 900 is a bit steep, but that looks to be one hell of a nice engine. besides theres no harm in trying to sell it for 900 right? if nobody buys it, you got yourself a spare engine like you said

Kandied,

If you decide to sell it, I might be interested. Drop me a PM and tell me what's included and info on shipping, ect.

Not saying FOR SURE if I'll be able to buy it or not, but I got "first dibs" especially if the cold air tube comes with it

i don't know about that tube..........i'm kinda partial to it.

i'm sure something could be worked out. as far as what comes with it. well what would you need?

should just be the complete engine assembly, distributor, harness, and the usuall stuff you would get when you purchase a crate engine.

there isn't that much really. it is in good shape, it does run good, i just "want" something nicer; the root of all evil....

What would I need? Well most everything I could get since I would be converting from a 305TBI, just whatever you could part with. I know I'll have a get a fuel pump from somewhere else but that's to be expected. I guess the complete engine, wiring harness, computer if you can, and that damn cold air tube . Who makes that tube anyway? Or did you make it? Your TPI is speed density right? That's what I'm looking for. I'm also looking for that tube......

the engine is completely stock minus a airfoil, watch out!

yes the tube was custom made from the same guy who did my exhaust. around 80 in the tube itself, 45 for the k&N, and 100 each time i coated it....after a year i decided to grind the welds down and have it recoated again so that it looks smooth and meant to be.

the engine is the same L98 you would find in any 91 z28 with the option which is speed density. like i said, it isn't something i'm jumping to get rid of; kind of if someone wants it come and get it. but it's definately in the car and working well and will stay that way until i replace it or the purchaser comes to see that it works.
