Accel Not-So-Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator???
I have had an accel AFPR on my car for quite some time and I have just got around to fiddleing with it. When I bolted this on the corresponding accel FP guage went to fifty psi w/out the hose connected and w/out any adjustments so I figured good, for now; I had a lot of things to do and little time to do them in.
Regardless, I did take my time with the assembly, and am confident that it got put together right, the last thing I wanted was a fuel leak. On a side note, I put the gauge on before the AFPR and my stock FPR was reading 47 psi at idle w/the hose disconnected (which should of been 43.5 psi, right?).
I tried to lower the FP the other day and nothing happened. I had the bolt on top unscrewed so far that I could turn it with my hand, so it obviously was having no more effect on my FP. And yes, I did have the vacuum hose disconnected.
I assume these things can go below 50 psi, can't they?
Has anyone else had this problem?
Should this be pointing me in the direction of something else that isn't working properly (maybe the gauge)?
:hail: help me!:hail:

First maybe turn your screw in until you feel it begin to touch the spring then attach your gauge and turn it slightly more. If the pressure goes up you know your gauge is working.Just a thought here but did your AFPR come with that spacer that you are told to install on top of the spring. If it did maybe you could uninstall the AFPR and reinstall it witholut the spacer. This would enable you to turn the FP down if for some reason the new AFPR is keeping you from running any pressure less than 50. Just some suggetsions
i had a couple of problems with afpr's. i had an accel and a tpis and they both sucked. i then got the holley and it solved my problems similar to yours. the holley has a much better design. i suggest you check it out.
