what sort of 1/4 mile times should i get

i have a 1987 with a l98. over the winter i plan on puting a set of afr 190 heads on it at the same time i am going to go of the deep end on the intake. by off the the deep end this is what i plan o doing. i plan on cuting the runers in half and making one big runner out of each pair of runners then i am going to port the hell out of the base to more or less make it into a single plane.
so after i get done with all of this what am i probaly looking at in terms of horse power ,torque and 1/4 mile or should i get rid of the maf and go map befor i start.

With the right converter, tune and a little luck, you could make it way into the 12s on such a thing.
Without those, mid 13s wouldn't surprise me.

If you're actually trying to go fast, you're going to need a lot more than 2k of stall in the converter for that combo.

I have a 3k stall behind my stock 305, and it was daily driven for probably 12-15k miles like that for a while until i recently bought a new driver. There really is no limit to how much stall you can run with a modern good quality lock-up converter like a vigilante or yank. Modern design are so efficient that they can still be reasonably tight in light throttle driving, but as you crack the throttle you get into the stall. And during cruise the TCC is locked so you don't have any heat issues whatsoever.

so i could run a 3000 stall and it would still be ok on the high way that is so cool so there is a hope for me yet to get in the 12's all i want to be able to due is keep up with a ls1 car but it will be nice if i can pass one.

I run a 3200 stall lock-up Yank converter. I've put at least 20k on it since when it was my daily driver, never a hint of a problem. stop light to stop light, highway, track, handles them all like a charm.

Hmmmm, Yank convertors. It hasn't blown up yet? Very surprising. You shouldn't have to worry about a 3k blowing up the tranny on long trips, 'cause it's usually locked up when you're on the highway anyway. A tranny cooler and a temp gauge are always good ideas though. Highly reccomeded. When choosing a convertor, you need to look at more than just the stall speed. You need to look at the STR of it as well. The ratio affects how the car launches and how it acts in the top end. If you want a good convertor that will blow away any Yank or TCI, let me know. We have a guy that custom makes them for us and he'll customize it to your application. PM or email me if you like. BTW, you only need a 12.90 to take all the stock LS1 T 56 cars on the road. I've never seen a stock one go any faster than that, and I work on them all day.

I think to save time you should just give the 190's to me.
Good luck with your set up.

The stock intake is what would end up limiting you with that combo. Everything else is in place to get somewhere, but you can't trust stock TPI parts to really make that kind of power.

Well if you actually improve the runners with the frankenstein project (good luck on that btw - should be interesting) and port the BigMouth I don't think it'll be very restrictive save for the stock upper manifold. Port that too!
