Tornado intake - does it work?

Not that I'm going to spend $70 on a cut up coffee can, but does swirling the air really make a difference? It seems like it would on a carburetor, but on TPI, the injector is so close to the valve, would it atominize any better? It seems like it would fill the combustion chamber evenly with an air/fuel mixture better. I was thinking about cutting up a $3 processor cooling fan and mounting it to see if it would make a difference. Anyone ever tested this out?

I'm closing this to save you ridicule. No, they absolutely do not work.
