The fuel pump in a 1986 TPI Trans Am is located inside the gastank and is an electric pump correct ?

Thats code 12. I forget what it means, but basically, if you see it everything's okay. If you don't see it then you have problems.

your fuel pressure is way low, it's supposed to be 40+. bad pump or pressure regulator maybe

Your pressure is Way Low, Dude.

That code is code 12, No dist ref Pulse wich is totally Normal.

However, it will flash 3 times before displaying any other codes so be sure to go through the entire cycle.

Looks like you have a fuel pump in your future.

Yeah the sputtering and such is from low fuel pressure. Check your fuel filter too. Give the cheap solutions a try first.

you have to remove the exhaust and lower the rear end by removing the shock bolts, but dont let the brake lines break. the filler neck on the tank will cause you some trouble in removing the tank, you have to fish it out and possibly bend it a little. do a search on removing the tank for more details, i have never done it
