Tbi ???
I have recently purchased a 91 RS. Should I stick with the TBI or look at something else. I currently have planned doing a new cat-back, under-drive pulleys and possibly a jet chip. The three-ohh-five is rather tired and could probably stand a bit of freshing up, I may also go to a 5.7 at that time.

There are alot of overlooked mods for the TBI that will make it much more of a performer.
I think you should do the ultimate TBI mods, as those seem to have pleased the TBI guys.
Aftermarket intake manifold
Flow match the injectors through TPIS or Cruzin Performance
Get an 'airflow enhancer' which is much like a carb spacer only for TBI
If you do the above mentioned, I think you'll find TBI isnt half bad.
Not to mention a heads and cam combo to really wake things up.
I say stick with TBI.

I wouldnt go carb, as TBI is just as easy to tune and offers the benefits of fuel injection.
Plus - TBI is also a rarity when it comes to talking about quick cars. If you make your TBI quick, you got a conversation piece whenever youre talking to someone about cars =D

TBI is junk. You can't go wrong either way converting it to a carb, or some port fuel injection setup such as TPI. Yeah i guess it would be cool to have be the exception and have a fast TBI car. But hold on a second, why would it be rare in the first place? Its because TBI and performance aren't on the same boat. TBI has the drawbacks of a carburetor, in terms of unequal fuel distribution and poor fuel atomization. But at least a carburetor can support a ton of higher rpm airflow, which alleviates this problem to an extent with all that airflow. Then you look at TBI, which can't support any airflow at all. The only TBI unit worth mentioning is the holley unit, and thats a huge 4bbl deal. With those huge bores combined with a low pressure fuel injectors, you're not really seeing the huge benefits of fuel injection. You might as well grap a 750 holley and call it a day.

I still disagree.
TBI can be modified to atomize fuel better, and can be worked to flow enough for a mild street engine. I am not saying by any means that its on the same boat as performance, however it can be made to 'perform'.
Go to the library and try to check out a copy of 'Camaro Performance Guide': modification of TPI and TBI.
This book has some great examples of exactly what needs to be done to free up some of the performance potential of a TBI unit.
