E.T times and HP rating

i have an 85 trans am tpi with a hooker catback exhaust and ported plentum and i am currently running a 15.1 @90 with a 2.1 60ft. i am slow. so i have decided to swap out the 305 for a tpi 350.

i was wondering what my ET times and HP will be

350 block with L98 aluminum heads
forged 350 rebuild kit
cam
cold air intake
torque converter
3.73 gears
shift kit
and i was going to just bolt on my 305 tpi stuff and siemesed intake and drag radials. i need to get faster i am trying to hit 13.2 or high 12s i am trying to compete with 2 of my friends they both got l98 vettes.

it is hard to project times on here, there are so many varables out there that it is hard to predict accurate times with a total engine swap like that. i am sure there are some guys on here runnin similar combos that can give you a better idea. i think you can attain your goal wiht the 305 tho. port the stock heads and get an aftermarket base and runners, install a cam and a converter, spray about a 125 horse shot of nitrous and i am sure you would be in the 12s

I can't give any sort of estimate on HP...

However, the build you described I think should do low 13's easily enough. That converter/shift kit and Gears are what's going to get you there.

You have given us absolutely nothing to work with here.... and as far as I can see, your far from low 13's....

350 block with L98 aluminum heads Ok, good start....
forged 350 rebuild kit forged what? crank, pistons??? forged does not equal HP. If your not running mad HP or Nitrous, etc... forged is a waste of money
cam Umm, OK, I hope so! What kind of cam? Lift? Duration?
cold air intake
torque converter REally??? what stall? stock size or smaler diameter?
3.73 gears I may be way off base here, but from personal experience, 3.73 is to much gear for a TPI. Been there, done that, liking my 3.42s better.
shift kit what kind of shift kit? Just cause it spins tires when it shifts doesn't mean your going faster, it means your loosing traction when you really need it.

4L60bliss, I can agree on most of what you said. Although I think he'll be fine w/ the 3.73.

The cam will determine a lot of how your car will run. If you can afford it don't use the stock TPI. Even if it is ported out, it still won't flow as good as an aftermarket setup w/ shorter runners. The stall and the cam should be closely matched. To much converter or cam can really screw up how you power gets to the pavement. Or if it gets there at all.

Do you have any idea on what cam you want to go w/? The ZZ4 cam is weak in a 350. The LT4 HC is a little better w/ a LTR setup but has much more potential in a LT1 car.

As for the heads, try and get them ported. Unless you plan on swaping them for aftermarket heads in the near future.

Not a bad set up though. W/ the ZZ4 crate motor I ran a stock TPI and put down 13.8-13.5 all day long. That's w/ the stock 305 programming. To get a high 12 your going to need a good cam and a good amount of stall. You have the gears to run both (that's why I liked your 3.73s)
