EGR Valve
EGR Valve
Hi,
I've finished installing the SDPC Vortec intake manifold on my new GM crate 350/330hp engine. This was installed in my 87 GTA and I have also installed SLP coated headers. My ECM is sending code 32 with is the EGR circuit. I installed the stock egr valve and solenoid but blocked off the rear egr port on the manifold that I was told this was for the corvettes. My question is do I need to use the egr port I blocked off with SDPC egr kit# SD3816 in order to get rid of this error code? Also at idle my engine is running rough and I wonder is this could be causing the problem. One other thing, I am still using the stock eprom but changed the injectors from 22# to 24#.
Any suggestions
Vance

your egr was originaly routed through your heads but now that you are using vortec heads you will have to run a corvette egr type egr system, which spdc sells i think. As for a rough idle this can be caused by bad/badly set tps, iac, or vacume leaks, check them according to the tech articles. Also different injectors will require tunning to work correctly although if there close enough you can get by... sometimes... If your tps and iac check out all right and you don't have any vacume leaks, then i would clean and reinstall your old injectors. A stuck egr valve might make a rough idle but when mine went bad the car would barely idle if at all. I don't know whats up but nobody seems to post at all in here anymore and truthfully I'm probably not the best person to answer your questions. Also your 24lb injectors might be measured at 24lbs at the diff. psi that mustangs use(?40?). so they may be very close to the 22lb (?45?)you just took off.
