This was a slight problem i was having with my modded 305 TPI, its from an 87 with MAF. As i ran down the 1/4 mile and let go off the gas and putting it in neutral(5 speed) as i was braking the car would just die, then i would slow it down to 10mph then restart it. I would have to give it gas in order for it to shut down. As soon as i would drive it to get the ticket it would drive normal. Beyond the 1/4 mile the car would drive as if the problem never existed, any thoughts?

 

Sounds just like a dying fuel pump.

 

sometimes a MSD box will caus this they have a resister to install if this happens did you just install a MSD or other kind of multipl spark discharg box?

 

I have nothing of MSD in my car. I was thinking of a bad fuel pump, but i installed a new remanufactured one about a year ago.

 

"NEW REMANUFACTURED", that could sum it up right there! IMO Look into a new pump or if you can not figure it out, take it to a shop and see what they say about it. good luck

 

MAF or MAF relay.

Cheap fix is to adjust your minimum air rate screw to open the throttle a little more at idle.
