Valve Cover Clearance?

What is the biggest lift I can run under a stock centerbolt valve cover? It will be using a narrow body 1.6 crand roller rocker and I don't mind butchering the insides of the cover just want stock appereance on the out side

hy would you want big lift numbers on a tpi car?you can only get rpm's up to about 4.5-5k before the tpi chokes off your airflow!Big lift numbers come with longer duraion(in most cases),and your big lift numbers(hp/tq) will peak well after the tpi has lost its breath!!! You cold fit just abot any size cam profile in your motor, and have clearance,a problem would arise if you used roller rockers.

Did I mention anything about a STOCK TPI no! If you can't provide any useful info move along. So you can't get any revs out of a mini ram? whatever.

Alright .......... has anybody ran a large cam w/stock valve covers?(87-92) style head? just wondering what I can get away with. I don't like aftermarket covers and can think of others places to spend the coin.

I have the ZZ9 cam with Crane Gold 1.6 non-self aligning RRs. I don't have the lift numbers with me but I am using stock centerbolt valve covers. The ZZ9 isn't too large of a cam though if I remember. I'm sure someone has posted the lift numbers here before if you do a search.

I run the same exact Crane Golds as Danny T but I'm using an LPE 219 cam.

.560"/.560" lift under stock centerbolts...no clearance problems either.

As long as you get the narrow body rockers, you don't need to clearance the valve covers. Lift should have no bearing at all on clearance. HTH's..
