Edelbrock TPI Manifold

This manifold , Jegs #350-3860 , has anyone used it ?? How would it be on a 305 with mild cam upgrade , stock runners and ported heads, ported plenum?? How does it compare with other aftermarket or stock ported manifolds??? Any input would be great !!

I've got it. Basically every other manifold is the same, except the accel. The only better one is the scoggin dickey intake, which is used for vortec heads. The TPIS used to be a ported edelbrock manifold, but I've heard they're just selling edelbrock's manifold unported now. As far as "how would it be," my only answer is that it'll work fine. You won't get the full advantage of it without porting, which is true of any manifold. No point getting it if you've still got stock runners since you can only move as much air as the smallest part of your intake.

Rezinn, Since you have the intake, I have a Q for ya. If I were to go with Alum. L98 heads, they have no passage for EGR, which is why vettes use an external crossover. I think on Vettes, the tube ties in to the back of the intake. Does the Edelbrock have the passage in the back? If so it prolly has a block off plate on it. If you can check i would appreciate it a lot.

Sweet, then i will have no problem using the L98 Alum, heads, all I need is the EGR kit from SDPC. Seems for the $$$ the edlbrk intake is the best bet, with a lil porting.

Yes it will boilt up just like the stock intake does.
91TPI5.7 has corvette aluminum heads and they do not have the exhaust cross over in them.

The only difference between the 305 and the 350 is the 305 have smaller pistons.

Re: EDLEBROCK INTAKE

the TPi was designed for GM's flagship motor which was gona be the 305 that was to be the HIPO option throughout all 3rd gen carmaro's and firebirds. the TPI was never intended for 350's, that all changed when GM started putting the 350 that was in the vettes in the formula 350's, IROC's, of course it was rated at a lower HP number so that there wouldnt be any competition with GM;s/chevys sports car the vette. The TPI isnt all that restrictive on a 305, it really begins to choke the 350 of course thats bc of the 4"bore and 45 extra cubes. to put a highflow edelbrock base on a mild cam 305 with ported heads, stock runners and ported plenum isnt really gona give u all that much, i would keep the 400$ that u would waste and put it towards something that will give u more HP per $. u would gain 5 hp maybe with the base, bc of the runners... think about it the 350 only gained 20hp with the base and runner upgrades. the intake isnt choking your motor really. its just limiting your RPM which is bc of the length of the runners not the runner size, porting with a set of siamesed runners will increase plenum area and increase RPM powerband, porting will help tho with the stock stuff. i wouldnt get the intake with your setup. i would port the stock base and work it out nicely and just save for sum runners down the road. a ported stock intake is more than adequate for ur setup, and setups more advance than urs on 305s. **** i mean a stock TPI on a stock 4 bolt truck 350 from a junk yard with twin buick 3.8 buick turbos is puttin down 542 rwhp. i think ur good lol

supposidly the edelbrock intake is just stuck in the ACcel box and accel sells it for alot more. some guy posted pics of an edelbrock base in an accell box lol he was pissed and so would i. TPIS's big mouth is way to much for ur motor. but they work the base i think they get it from AS&M with there large tube runners, not sure. the only other good base is the vortec base from scoggin but u need vortec heads.

in consencus i would port ur stock base nicely, port match all the gaskets etc, if u want get a set of aftermarket runners used or just throw the money into the motor, get a set of 305 SR torqer heads. those set with a mild cam made 50rwhp on a stock 305 TBI 3rd gen camaro in CHP, with exhaust upgrade. or another set of heads for your 305.

make sure u get the right base if u still decide to, im not sure if they sell one for both valve cover configurations.

Re: EDLEBROCK INTAKE

Tsk tsk tsk. Revive an old post to put up incorrect information.

Edelbrock #3860 base is machined to fit either style head.

Re: Edelbrock TPI Manifold

I have a 3860 NO ITS NOT FOR SALE

It will fit early heads or late head as well as corvette heads

It has provisions for drawing egr conventionally through the heads or through a egr tube like a corvette has

it is drill and tapped to accept eith corvette or F-body fuel rails

it's drilled and tapped to accept three screwed in sensor at the front of the manifold (cold start temp sensor, coolant sensor, throttlebody heater hose fitting)

has a boss for the f-body alternator brace

In short gentlmen the 3860 will fit ANY small block chevy from 91 down and have full emmisions capability for whatever heads you run

Re: Edelbrock TPI Manifold

I had one- it was JUNK! None of the intake ports lined up right and had all sorts of air leaks.
