Opinions on CC304 in a 305
i have been considering trying this swap to see what it would do... plans would and do include gasket matching and a bowl cleanup on the heads along with getting the heads machined for bigger springs and replacing the stock pressed in rocker studs for screw-in kind. going to use 1.6 rockers which would bring the cam to about .530 lift... the specs on the cam are 210/220 .500/.510... what do you guys think... the intake will also be modded a little... aftermarket base ported and siamesed and with probably the TPIS siamsesed runner...
any thoughts?
i thought about the LT1 cam but thought this might be another way to go... have yet to hear if its been tried before... i have a opportunity to pick both this cam and the stock LT1 cam up for cheap so i figuered that i would try this!!

You will have to get the Crane +.050 valve locks. The comp springs that are recommended are the 981 and 983, but at the stock installed height of 1.700 - 1.150 (coil bind) - .050 min clearance = .500 lift. Lift will be .534 and .544 with 1.6 rockers. The Crane locks would give you +.050 installed height.
Buy some new lifters, $150 bucks, springs, retainers, valve stem seals, etc.
I'd take any aftermarket cam over a stocker. You could also try and trade the CC304 for a hot cam if you wanted more lope.

Will probably work pretty good. I can't say i've seen anyone here running that cam in particular, but i will tell you that i very nearly ran one. I actually did buy it, but let the guy keep it when it turned out he did have a use for it, and i wans't planning on swapping till spring.
And FWIW, i regret not taking it now. should be a great mild cam for a 305. I'm not sure what i'm going to go with now, but i have a line on a ZZ9 cam thats coming out of a vette in the spring. It's a little bigger while still notgoing overboard so it should cheer me up.
BTW, i would not bother with 1.6 rockers with stock heads and that cam. Though if you're going to put in screw in studs anyway, why not. Probably won't help much, but i guess it won't hurt either.
