86 305 with an 88 350
Ok my friend has an 86 iroc that originally had a 305 and he swapped in a 350 with new trick flow 23* heads. It is misfiring. Could the 305 chip be causing this ?? what else could cause this ??

Here is a random guess
Check the postion of all the spark wires and make sure they are in the correct order.
If they are, check your spark plugs to insure they are good.
If its still misfiring, get a spark tester, like form pep boys $15-20USD and make sure each wire is getting a spark, your distrubutor may be off.

looked at the motor today and 1 of the spark plug wires was all melted but something else is wrong my car was only firing on 7 cylinders once ( broken spark plug ) and it didn't sound that bad. The guy that did the motor said he set the timing at 3* could that also be doing it ??
O yeah i think it might have the stock 305 chip in it forgot to ask my friend.
