Help with Code 34
Help with Code 34
Ok, my car is an 88 IROC with the mods in my sig. I have checked out a lot of posts, but can not seem to find anything (search is still down).
About two weeks ago, my car started to idle really bad (about 500 rpm). Then it started to die when my foot was not on the gas. This only happens once the engine reaches about 180*. I swapped the MAF with a known good one, and it was fine for a day or two of easy driving. Had the problems again. Then I bought two new MAF relays. Once again, ok for a day or two. Same problem. I then swapped the ECM with another known good one. Then, you guessed it, another two days and the problem is back! My Auto Xray tells me its a code 34 (MAF voltage too low).
I have checked all my connections and they seem fine. I am at my wits end. My GM manual seems to be of no help on this one. I know that someone on here has run into this before. Please help me before I switch to a carb!
Thanks in advance. Thomas

I would try checking the wires continuity btween the ECM and the MAF also check ECM ground wires on the back of the passenger cylinder head. It could be a IAC motor, I had a similar problem on my IROC without setting the code though. In my case the IAC would stick some days and not others. I can disconnect my MAF and the car does not run as bad as your describing.

Have you checked your TPS voltage? Make sure that you have NO leaks in the air inlet stuff. I had a similar problem a few years ago and I raised my TPS a little and reset the ECM and have never had a code since.....
There is alot of threads about code 33 34 too bad that the seach function is disabled, but there is a lot of info about is......
Maybe this thread could help you? https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=156213
