Lt1 intake, tpi computer questions
Alrighty, i bought a 97 lt1 intake and throttle body, and was told by somebody on here that i could run it with a 87 5-speed tpi computer and harness, so i go and buy that, then i find a deal on a set of 24lb ford injectors, so i buy those....now i was looking at my wiring harness and i see where the injectors plug in, and i see where a few other connections go, but i don't see a connector for my tps and a few other things...and i'm really bad with wiring diagrams...how do i figure out what goes where? i had a cc-carb before but i removed EVERYTHING that wasn't for gauges, so i've got little to no idea where things go...
thanks in advance, i know i'm a PITA sometimes

I think that the tps on the 97 tb is different from the the tpi style and has a different connector. I don't believe they are interchangeable, either. I would get a chilton's manual or some documentation of a specific year (87 in your case) to chase down connections and other needed sensors etc...

You're going to need a TPI type throttle body (ie 86 thru 92). That will get you the proper connections.
BTW, if you have a '97 LT1 intake from a y-body or f-body, it should have came with 24lb injectors.

heh, ideally it would have 24lb injectors RCR, but mine came without any...and there's no interchangability on throttlebodies? hmm, did any tpi's come with 52mm or 58mm's? or does an aftermarket company make one? there's no way i can swap tps sensors or anything so it'll work? ah well, live and learn...thanks guys

BIG NOTE:
Don't forget that Ford's injectors are rated at a lower PSI. They are rated at 39.5PSI and other bosch/GM type injectors are rated at 43.5. What this means...
You start with a 350 running 22# injectos and you switch to 24# SVO injectors. First instance is to think that it is only two pounds. Well let me point something out to you. Your new fuel is pushing out 25.12# per hour. Well sure that might be only three, but you now have carbon building up and it will cause problems later. Trust me on this one, I didn't find this out for a couple months. And my gas mileage sucked. I was running about 27.14# per hour. I think I was getting about 12mpg on the highway.
Why did I post this, you ask? I wanted you to make a big sticky note for you moniter so you can have the chip reprogrammed for that amount of fuel.

The TPS and IAC on a LT1 throttle body are differant then the TPS and IAC on a TPI throttle body. They do not interchage and the connectors are differant.
A LT1 throttle body will interchange with a TPI throttle body. But do to the above mentioned sensors being differant you would have to change the connectors on the wire harness.
You can keep the LT1 TB you have since you're swapping to LT1 intake. you will have to get the sensors connectors and throttle cable for LT1.
If you get a TPI TB for the LT1 intake you will not have to buy anything else.
The LT1 TB will hit the coolant fittings if they are installed in the front.

can i mount the coolant lines in the back or is that going to interfere with the distributor?
and just to clarify, i CAN run the lt1 tb if i either switch for sensors off a tpi tb or put connectors from an lt1 harness on my tpi harness?

You can only run a LT1 TB if you change the connectors on your wireing harness. You will have to use the LT1 TB sensors, not TPI TB sensors. Also you will need a LT1 throttle cable and will have to mount the coolant fittings in the rear.
