Bolt tightening reccommendations for intake?

I am getting ready to put my intake back to gether with an Accel Supperram base. Where are you supposed to put the RTV besides along the back wall of the valley? Also what is the recommended bolt tightening pattern and torque. I understand this is very important to avoid warping the intake. Also I have heard you should use thread sealant no the bolts. I bought some "thread sealing compound" at the auto parts store. Is this sufficient? Thanks

You also want to use RTV on the front lifter gallery wall/intake mating surface. Thread sealant on the intake bolts is a good thing, I like Permatex Teflon thread sealant. You don't want the hardening kind of sealant, it will crumble when you remove the bolts later and pollute up the lifter gallery.

The torque and tightening sequence is important...don't have a picture handy and explaining the sequence in text form is time-consuming. It's in all the usual Chilton's and whatnot books, probably on the web if you hit Google.

Yeah, the sequence is a bit tricky to describe, but you basically work inside to outside.

Start with the 4 bolts in the middle, in a zig-zag pattern. Once those are in, do the bolts, I believe, in the back, or could be front. These bolts are a bit different. You do the inner one of one, then the outer. Then go to the opposite side of the rear and do the inner, then the outer. Then go to the front and follow the same sequence.

That's from memory, so I could be wrong. Definitely pick up some type of manual.

Thanks, I have a Chilton manual, it should be in there somewhere. Im not to sure about the thread sealing compound though. I'll take a look at the manual and see what they recommend

I don't believe they recommend anything for the thread sealing, just RTV and a gasket. Just run to the car store and get the Permatex thread sealer with teflon. Just don't pick up the thread locker stuff.
