Well I got it running finally
I just installed the SuperRam plenum, runners and 58mm TB along with 24# injectors to complete my setup. I definitely need a new chip though because there is too much advanced timing set up on my current one. My base timing is only at 4º and it is pinging consistently at 2/3 or more throttle (I'm running 91 octane). Would anything else contribute to that?
I need to change the plugs and set the idle speed/IAC, hopefully that will iron out the bugs it has.

I'm definitely going once it's running right, especially since I live so close to the track.
Do you ever come out here?

I am in the same boat as you. I get horrible detonation at 3000 rpm with 2/3 throttle and more. I have been adding fuel, slightly, and removing timing, slightly, with some decent results. I did get a pretty good kick in the seat when I added some more fuel to the PE table. I just change something and go for a test drive, and repeat it until I am satisfied. It gets pretty tedious sometimes though.

My 383 is 10.25:1 though so yours is probably pickier than mine. We do have the same cam and heads though. I know a new chip will help because of the injector swap. I haven't checked my BLMS though to see where I'm at. I'm debating on the PROM burning equipment

I would urge you to get into buring your own proms. YOu can make changes when ever you want and the price of the equipment is less than or equal to what the chip companies sell for. At first I looked around to buy a chip, then get into burning my own. When I say some place charging $300-500, I said no way. I got setup for around $300. THat is with the PP2, Tuner Cat, and Datamaster scanner software. I did not buy an eraser because I have always used EEPROMs. So that saved me $50.
BTW I am running #30 injectors, I don't know if that will make a huge difference between our two combos, but it will make some.

Yeah I guess I really should. After all I spent on the motor, mods etc, what's another $300 to get it running right? Hopefully the PROM board is good enough to walk me through it

The people on the PROM board are very helpful and if you search, you can find an answer to just about anything you need. Another source you may want to check out that I think is worth its weight in gold is a book called "How to Tune and Modify Chevrolet Fuel Injection" by Ben Watson.
