what kind of chip do I buy?
what kind of chip do I buy?
I am going to burn my own chip for my car, but I wanted to know what kind of chip I need to buy, i.e.: the number like 27c256, 27C512, 27C010, 27C1001, 27C020, 27C2001, 27C040, 27C4001, SF FLASH: 27SF256, 27SF512, 27SF010 etc. Which one came in TPI. I need to buy a burner and buy chips so that is why I am asking.

Go to the DIY PROM board and read Trax's article on getting started with prom tuning. THis has alot of info on what to use, where to get, and prices. He also includes many options for each area, chips, burners, erasers, scanners. Print it out and put it in a folder for safe keeping. I use the AT 29c256 flash memory chips.

I recommend wavy lay's sour cream & onion. They're my favorite!!
Seriously, tho, if you want someone to help you, you're going to have to say what your car is. Year? Engine? those will be helpful.
This may have the info in it, too: https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/promintro.shtml
