Nope. You can reuse your dash wiring. You might need to move a couple wires around depending on the TPI setup you get.

Does anyone know if the engine wiring harness will go right into place, because there are both speed density set ups?

since we're on the wiring harness subject, I have a '85 Iroc coupe that I'm converting to TPI. It was originally a carbed car. Would that need the dash harness? The car had the computer controlled carb on it for what it's worth. Also, would anyone happen to know if the carbed cars had an in tank fuel pump also? Thanks to all!!:hail:

What year is the TPI setup you're using?

The car that the engine is coming from is an 1989 Gta. I figured I could use the engine, and just make it speed density since my car is all ready set up for that. I think it will be easeier to do this. Does anyone think this sounds like a good idea. Thanks.

You can use your existing Dash Harness, both of you.

On the 85 you will need to splice in power for the injectors at the ECM and redo the ALDL stuff.

Can't say for the 90 TBI, you will have to look at a wiring Diagram.

Also for the 85 You will need to redo the Wipers and Blower Motor depending on what year TPI harness you get.

On my swap, all the body electronics were on a seperate harness.
I went from a cc carb to an Edelbrock Carb to a 91 TPI setup.

For the fuel system, I went with a Holley in-line pump,

With all the knowledge on this site, it's a very easy swap.
Gathering up all the parts is the hard part, unless you can get everything off of the doner car.

I pretty much have everything at my disposal. I can get a dash harness from a local yard that specializes in nothing but 3rd gens. Would it be worth the effort to get the dash harness? Btw Zepher, that's a real sano set up you have! Would it be safe to assume that you used an in-line fuel pump on your car? If so, how did you run power to it? I have a complete TPI fuel system to install in my '85 also, including the fuel tank and all of the fuel lines.

Ya, I used a Holley in-line external pump.
Wire was ran from the Fuel Pump Relay in the engine bay, under the carpet and out through the back of the rear seat area, just like stock, and connected to the pump.

The member here named Dyno Don knows how to re arrange the wires for the dash harness. He has done this many times for people.... Get in touch with him.

I would recommend going with an external pump. When I have to replace mine, I will convert to external just because of the fact how much of a pain in the rear it is to take the tank out of the car.
