What do i need to Successfully Chane to TPI?

Here my dilemma. I have a 1987 Chevy Monte Carlo SS and I want to change it from the 305 carb to a 350 tpi. I have an eninge from my 1978 camaro its a 355 with mild ported heads and a mild cam. I would like to kno everything i would need for the conversion to TPI. Also what would i have to do to convert to fit the older style heads. What type of ignition should i use? What fuel pump? I'd like to get in the low 13s or even high 12s. Help me out Thanx Guys you's are the best!!

I know you'd need everything from the intake and up. You'd also need the wiring harness, and the computer. I was looking at doing this to an old truck. I was looking on Ebay last night, and there is an entire TPI kit on there. Do a search for TPI. This one came with everything you need. All the parts from the intake and up, the wiring harness, and the computer. It was around $400 when I saw it. Matt

Your best bet is to take your time and learn the details before you do the swap. And honestly, there is no way i would take a computer controlled carb off and replace it with TPI. I've worked with both, CCCS is so much more forgiving, and it'll be a lot cheaper to go fast with too.

How do you figure TPI is going to be more reliable and get better gas mileage. A computer controlled carb is about as trouble free as you get, and the computer itself is so stupid that it will never get in your way. TPI on the other hand can give you all sorts of fits trying to diagnose even the simplest problems. And sometimes those simple problems can ruin your whole weekend.

As for gas mileage, again, thats a wash. I used to regularly get 26mph from my old 85 with mild 350. Even with a stock 305 and 2.73s i would barely touch that number in my vert.

Like i said, i have had both, and there is no way i would pull a computer controlled carb off in favor of TPI, even if the TPI was FREE.
