Details needed for 88 Vette chip
Details needed for 88 Vette chip
I have put a 350 TPI setup in my 86 Z28 and some other mods and I purchased an 88 Corvette MAF TPI Auto Trans Hypertech Thermomaster chip to put in. I installed it and the car won't start. It will turn over but won't fire. I am getting a 46 trouble code which I think is a VATS problem but don't know how to bypass since my car doesn't use a resistor chip. I'm sure someone has done something similar before.
Does anyone have any advice, information or a reference for information???
Thanks

For what that hypertech chip costs, you can buy your own PROM burning equipment & download free software. Then you can burn a chip that doesn't suck like the Hypertech, and you'll be able to eliminate your VATS issue.
There are also other problems with using a Vette chip. You'll have a constant SES light because the vette has an oil pressure sensor that the ECM monitors. I believe the MEMCAL is different enough that there will also be all sorts of other problems. When I swapped to the 165 ECM, I bought a MEMCAL for an 87 L98 f-body, and then burned my own chips.

Thanks guys! I didn't pay alot for the chip ($67). I can always sell it back off. I would like to get a programmer and do my own though. Where could I get one that would program my cars specs? Most of what I have seen is either for trucks or the 4th Gen F's.
