whats the most HP gain you guys have gotten from either burning your own chip or putting in an aftermarket chip on a TPI with about the same mods as mine...

I had a chip once but sold it and I was thinking of getting another.

Your not going to see much Wishmaster....calibrating a chip shouldn't be thought of as a 'performance mod' per se'. It's essentially just tweaking what you already have.
With a stock car, your only tweaking past the factory safe tolerances- just like overclocking computer hardware.
Once you modify your engine beyond stock, calibrating a chip now becomes tuning. This is needed to get the full potential out of those engine modifications since stock calibrations are not setup to take advantage of them.

Well said RocZ. You can always modify your car and ignore the chip... but you'd basically be sacrificing more and power the more intensive your modding gets. I for one, have'nt begun to research how to go about tuning the chip, but I know it's to important to put off. From what I understand, the stock Prom is & lame even if your running a bone stock setup there is significant performance to be freed up. I'd say with your car you might be able to squeeze 10 RWHP gain from what you're running now with good tuning. Just a guess - I am far far far from informed on on DIY Prom burning.

I duinno, with those +4 plugs and synthetic Fluids, that car is really begging for a Custom Tune.

In all seriousness, Even a bone stock car can benifit immensely from a Well done PROM.

EVERY car / engine combo is different, but for reference, a friend of mine had easy ( read FREE ) access to a dyno, and he had a guy he knew help him get a chip burned for his Formula.

I built the short block, it's just a factory L98 , .030 over, right @ 10:1, pocket ported alum L98 heads, ZZ3 cam.

Ported factory intake, big tube runners, ported plenum, headers and good exhaust. All in a 5 speed ( originally a 305 car ) 3.27 geared car....

He's running a MAF system.

They used dyno numbers, a wide band O2, and NUMEROUS readings from a scantool.....

Took 'em about 7 chips, and as many weeks, since he would email the data, then they guy would send a chip.......the last 2 were just working on part throttle performance and cruise , from data while driving around.

In the end he picked up almost 20 RWHP, and about the same amount of torque, but the big benefit he swears by is MPG and just overall throttle response.

And common sense tells me the more mods the combo has, the more power there is just waiting to be unleashed from tuning.
