Question about runners...
This question is for my friend with an 87 iroc LB9. My friend picked up some Accell runners without cold start. His 87 is cold start. He is wanting to know if he can use these and/or what the effect would be. Thanks.

W/o a CSI his car will probably have a harder time starting in cold weather.
Easy way around the problem is to swap to an 89 bin with VATs turned off

Just make sure you block off the back of the fuel rain where the CSI line comes out. There is an O ring that allows the CSI line to pivot. I don't remember if you can remove the line, from the nut. I think it's got a flared end and the nut wont slide off. So Put a cap on it.
If you want to know what will happen running those runners.... unplug his CSI when dead cold, and see how much harder to start it is.
Someone may correct me but I've heard the 3amp fuse CRK/Crank related to the cold start injector. When my fuse was blown, in theory my CSI wouldn't work (like deleting it), the car even ran a bit bad. Like I said though, not sure about the fuse thing.

The cold start injector was eliminated in 88 in favor of cold start fuel enrichment programmed into the chip. So just get an 88 chip or programming if possible and you won't have to mess with vats.
Unplugging the csi won't make your car run badly.

Sorry, but the 88 TPI's have a CSI. 89 is the only year MAF that did not have the CSI so you have no choice but to deal with the VATS. And in fact some of the later year 88 GTA's came with VATS too.
