Question about resetting the IAC
I followed the directions on this site but had a question about what happened;
I gapped the A and B terminals, and turned on the ignition. I went around to unplug the IAC after 30 seconds. Well during this time the IAC motor was making a quite loud clicking noise the whole time until I unpugged it. Is this normal???

*update*
I went ahead and sprung the $22 for a new Wells IAC motor. Well I installed it and first off it didn't make any noise at all when I reset it. As far as drivability goes this one really has me stumped:
The car seems to have 400% more power and throttle response but only at WOT. Normally this would seem like a good thing but it still drives like crap. I can't give it partial throttle off the line, it seems like it's either wants WOT or it won't go anywhere. It won't just drive normally. Where should I go next? My TPS sensor is fine at idle, what should it's range be in terms of max volts? I'm probably going to throw in a new MAF (screens removed long, long ago) and new O2 sensor and see if that helps...

Before you spend more money, what was the problem in the first place that made you reset the IAC and how does the car start and idle now?
Also, it is normal for the IAC to make the clicking sound. That noise is simple the motor pulling the pintle all the way out.

My original problem was a combination of real bad drivability problems including stumbling, missing, popping (backfiring?), all plague me if I use anything under 75% throttle. All these problems still occur under light load.
Another major problem is a miss? at cruising speeds. I'll be going fine and all of the sudden it the engine will cut out for a second like I took my foot completely off the gas pedal but actually I didn't move it.
I cleaned out all the IA passages, replaced the IAC motor, the TPS is smooth along the whole range, no hangups or anything.
I scrapped my whole EGR system. I put a blockoff plate in place of the EGR valve and capped all the fittings on the plenum.
I had all these problems before I did any of this and they still remain. All my ignition parts are upgraded as well.
All I can think of now is the POS MAF. Unless I was supposed to do anything with the two vacuum fittings that come out of the EGR solenoid?

The car starts and immediately goes up to about 1100 RPM and stays there for a few seconds until it completely drops to about 350 RPM and almost dies. I think it would die if I didn't give it a little gas to bring it up again...
