Clanking sound after 3500 RPM

Ive got a 305 TPI, when I get on it theres a clanking sound coming from the exhaust it seems. That car still runs strong and pulls hard but that clanking sound, sound like crap. Could it just be the exhaust taking a dump, being stock in all. Any suggestions on what It could be. Thanks guys.

Try getting underneath the car, make a fist, and bang on the exhaust. If you hear the rattle, just follow it to the source. The connector from the exhaust manifolds to the actual exhaust pipe was loose on mine. A Simple tighten of some bolts fixed it.

My pinging of the engine seems to come from the exhaust. Could it be detonation?
