stock IROC e/t times
ok my friend just bought an 89 Iroc 5.7 tpi and he is telling every one he runs all of these crazy times and that my car runs all of theses crazy times and i was wondering if anyone has a stock IROC and what it runs he told every one last year he ran a 13.00 which is funny because he gets wasted by people with 13 second timeslips under the belt
My stock drivetrain 5.7L 88 IROC (somewhere around 120K miles at the time) ran 15.04 @ 90.49 at Houston Raceway Park on a cool November evening. It had 2.77 gear and a 27.5 inch tall tire (I went through the lights in 2nd gear). 60 foot times were 2.14 to 2.17 with a 2.21 thrown in for some reason.
With a 25.5 or 26 inch tall tire, It probably would have gone a high 14.80 to a low 14.90.
I'm the 3rd owner of the car and I know everything that's been done to it. At the time it had the TB coolant bypass, removed MAF screens, drag launch rear springs, original factory shocks and struts, original factory injectors, an AFPR set at 45 PSI, a gutted air cleaner housing, dirty Fram air filters, no AIR pump, original factory cat, and a Midas exhaust from the cat back (on the car when I bought it).
I figure the restrictive Midas system kills any mods I've made so far.

Is he saying he ran 13.00 on a stock IROC? There's no way at all that could happen...that's LS1 territory, even with a decent driver and track conditions. It would take a considerable amount of modding to get an IROC into that region...I'm calling
here, but like Desert86Roc said, take him to the track...
As was said above, stock 'Rocs would be in the 14's...under perfect conditions and with an excellent driver, I'd expect one to be able to best a low 14 run.

I've got a nearly stock GTA (similar to IROC right?...heavier if anything). Check my sig for mods and time. If he's stock....there's very little chance he ran a 13 flat. Now if he's saying something along the lines of 13.9 or 13.85....that's believable with a factory freak car on a perfect day, tail-wind, and perfect launch.
just run him at the track...that'll settle all doubts

My Iroc is in my SIG, and the best I have managed is a 14.67 w/ a 1.88 60' - FYI the stall is only 1800 (but It's a better machined converter than stock), and the rear has 3.23's.
A stock IROC with the interior stripped, smog equipment deleted, a/c deleted, spare&jack deleted might manage a 13.89... but 13.00? Never. Where was this track he ran it at? Under the sea?

LOL, you know if its stock its not running 13.00, more like low-really low 14's for an L98 G92 IROC-Z28 in great running condition. I mean come on, if he's not beating cars that are running 13's, just make sure you go to the track with him next time and watch him run his 14's because it takes mods to get a 13.00 for sure.

On my 89 iroc 5.7 tpi bone stock except for exaust and k&n air filters it ran 14.94. Stock times for a 5.7 camaro is around 15.1 Sec. Your friend it lying and should own a import. As that is what all the A$$hole ricers say. Take it to the track.
As for my times now i will be running about 13.5 after heavy suspension mods, new tci trans, 3.45 rear and headers.
TAKE IT TO THE TRACK AND MAKE HIM LOOK DUMB. DON'T FORGET TO RUB IT IN THAT HE RAN HIGH 14 OR EVEN 15'S
