Another thing though is with a filter set-up like that it would definitly suck in a lot of hot air from the radiator. I personally like the current set-up of the airbox with the box running into the fog light openings on the front cover.

I either:

put MAF up by A.I.R.
The only thing is I need to put something in between the air filter and TB (where MAF was)

or leave MAF connected to air filter housing and stick a filter on the TB

It has MAF--not SD

He's roflhao because cars that run filters like that are Speed density cars that do not have a MAF sensor. That said it has been proven to be a waste of time because of all the hot air they pull in. Hope this helps -John

Not being a dick just curious if you know what a MAF sensor does.

Doesn't it tell the ECM about the incoming air?

What I don't get--if sensor is bad----why does engine not run with MAF in place?

It runs fine if I place it up by A.I.R
(not connected to any ducting)

I just want my car to run and the engine to have filtered air.

ok let's try to clear one thing up at a time. The MAF sensor measures the amount of incoming air to the engine and calculates fuel delivery accordingly, so you were right there. But I am a little confused, what exactly are you referring to as the AIR?

Because if you take the MAF out of the loop, then the ECM totally flips out and just runs on default 'limp home' type values. But if you leave it hooked up and it runs like **** or not at all, that is because the MAF is sending totally bogus data to the ECM, not enough to flip it out to run limmp home. Just bad enough to make no sense and not ****ing work. Liek, you know you have a job to do, but if some crazy sunofabitch is sitting there yelling at you in chinese or something, you're probably just going to be like and not get anything done. But if you know you have to just dig a hole and you can go home and eat ****, but you get no input, well, you're probably going to dig a hole and hope you get some damn ****.

But if you're not getting a SES light from disconnecting the MAF, then the ECM could also be bad, a case of schizophrenia, vs. crazy chinese guy frontin on the ****.

A.I.R.--the air injection pump (not air cond) the little black box.

Okay--I think I understand a little better now...the SES light does come on when MAF is not in place. Sounds like the ECM is allright.

I will try to borrow a MAF and test it out.

thanks for the help guys
