305TPI/Auto lacks low end

My car lacks low end to the point where I'm pulling 2.2 60's. It's not spinning, it feels like it bogs down. I'm running strong after that though. It really pulls after it gets out of the hole. I know I have 2.73's, and I could be wrong, but shouldn't I be able to just roast the tires from a stop? Everyone complains of traction problems and I'm just wishing I had those right now.

Any suggestions or is this the way it should be?

I dunno, you're going to hear several different things, probably, but my '89 w/L98 and 2.77's, (16 inch tires) was a different type of "tire burner", depending on the tires I had...i/e with the Goodyears and such, I barely got a chirp from a standstill, when I ran a set of no-name-ese, the tire spun quite freely.

2.2 60's with a 305 an 700R4 is probably where 90% of the stock guy/gals are at with your setup.

From what I see, your running pretty good 60' for the setup you have posted above. What kind of 1/4 mile times are you pulling? What RPM are you launching at when your at the track? Keep increasing your RPM until you start getting a small amount of wheel spin. I'm pulling sub 2.0's but I am running 13's in the 1/4 on my 305, but I am running 3.42 gears. With 2.73's you will definitely not have the low end punch of a 3.42 but you should still be able to smoke the tires at launch if you really want to.

These are my times BEFORE the LCA's and the SFC's...in full street trim, no gutting the car for the track (I don't believe in doing that to a street car) Tires are GSC's

Run....60'....1/8..MPH.....1/4....MPH
0....2.280...9.863..69.63...15.302...86.63<~This run was a different day than the rest
1....2.304...9.845..73.56...15.222...92.40
2....2.284...9.853..73.22...15.242...92.06
3....2.327...9.905..73.25...15.254...92.57
4....2.327...9.891..73.00...15.260...92.49

I've tried flashing the convertor, stalling it up...it all pulls the same thing.

I supposedly have a 3.42 rear on the way and I have an LT1 cam sitting in my closet, AND I have a stall lined up to buy....2200-2400RPM

I have the same combo in my 92 and think your right on track. My car is an absolute pig off the line but runs pretty good once rolling. I think it was Ed Maher that said these cars got the L98 cam ( SD lb9 autos ) and by just using L98 exhaust manifolds and exhaust he gained .25 sec and 3 mph. I just got the 92 so I'm gonna get some before and after times with the current exhaust and with the manifolds I took off the 87, a decent y-pipe and a cat back. Then comes the 3.23's. Ed had the small outlet manifolds and I pipe like I do I assume (205 HP version)

That should be good for mid 14's. I would go with a little higher stall though. The 2400 would probably be okay but the 2000 is just not worth the money. It would a be big enough change from the stock 1600 to really warrant the cost of changing. I am running 2800. Be careful what STR you get, no matter what the stall. The too high of a STR will kill you.
