car goin in....got some Q's

they said i have a bad lifter. the car is goin in wed. not i have an lt4 hotcam waitin to go in. and i figure since they have to tear apart the top end for the lifter, why not throw the cam in?

now i have a pretty much stock 350. only upgrades is roller rockers, which came with the hotcam. and full hooker exhaust. now would i lose power if i install the cam since idont have a decent intake setup to compensate for the larger cam?
thanks
chris

This is a hard one to answer but most people would think that you would lose some bottom end. I think the only legitimate answer you would get is from someone who has tried this with a similar set up. Who knows, the TPI unit might actually respond nicely to the extra duration but will still peak at 4500 RPM or under. I would say to at least get an aftermarket baseplate to change that. The only problems I see is having the lift of .525 on stock heads as most people say the stock heads and springs are only good to about .480 lift. Depending on which style 083 castings you have, you may have to also slot the holes for the pushrods for the clearance of the different pushrod angle when using the 1.6s. If it were me, I would probably experiment and give it a try, you can always upgrade the intake later.
Good Luck!
