my car is slow...
Hey guys this is kind of long, but please try to help me out...
My previous best time at the track with the mods listed below was a 14.09 at about 96.2. This was with very good weather and on D.R.'s. But my transmission was messed up (it wouldn't shift into 3rd w/o letting off the gas and shifted very softly).
Since then, I got a fully built transmission (which shifts GREAT), SLP 2400 converter, MT ET Streets, had my injectors cleaned and flow-matched, added a Edelbock base, Accel Runners with matching plenum. After I installed these the car felt pretty much the same...
I went to the track last night and my best slip went like this:
R/T .449
60' 1.913
330 5.754
1/8 8.985
MPH 75.92
1000 11.782
1/4 14.148
MPH 95.55
So like I said my car is slow. I was wondering:
My car can't pull to even 4900 rpms. And every once in a while my car will start idling lopey like moving up and down from 500-1000 rpms. Can I test my fuel pump, if it has not completely failed? Is there any way to make sure it is not running lean or rich? It runs ok, but I know there is something wrong. I have tried three different chips, but they pretty much all ran the same. Does anybody have any other ideas??
BTW the track conditions were not great. It was very humid but only like 65 degrees. My first race was a 99 Camaro SS auto. with exhaust. He ran a 13.995. They usually run mid 13's so maybe this is just as fast as my car will go in this weather??? But then again his run was at 100 mph....I don't know, what do you guys think?
Thanks for any help.

1. Attach a fuel pressure gauge to the schraeder valve fitting on the fuel rail and check to see if pressure drops during a WOT pass. You'll need a long enough line to tape the gauge to your windshield and feed the line through the hood scoop (how convenient).
2. Capture data during a WOT pass using a scantool, Diacom, or Moates software. The O2 sensore readings should be between say 850-900 mv the whole pass. If you see the readings dropping through the run then you're leaning out and the fuel pump is a prime suspect.
Another thing to check is the ignition sysem. Plugs, wires, coil connection, etc.

Thanks Mark. I guess I will buy one of those gauges and check that. My plugs and wires were changed about 6k miles ago. It didn't run any different. My MSD ignition was one of the first mods I did since I didn't know better. Recently, I have been wondering if something (coil or box) was or has gone bad. If I can't figure this out I will try a new coil.
Any other ideas?
