Can't adjust minimum idle

I followed the procedure for adjusting minimum idle but the car will not crank with the IAC connector disconnected. I tried doing with the EST cable disconnected also but the car would not stay running without me keeping my foot on the gas. What is going on? Is my timing still messed up?

I think that is normal actually, but im not quite sure what your trying to do. Just move the idle screw out enough to where the car will idle on its on and slowly pull it back in and get your car to idle at its lowest before it begins to stall, usually at about 450-550 rpm. Hope this helps...

Jfree,

Of course, the engine needs to be at full operating temperature, and the TPS needs to be within the 0.47-0.61VDC range to get an acceptable idle.

The problem with that is that it has to be around 1500 RPM to keep it from cutting off. Vader, I will try it with the engine at temp. Idon't think it was before.

My car was doing that a while ago. I was on my way to my girlfriend's house when my car just stopped at a stop light..I tried to start it again and it'd cranmk but I couldnt keep the engine going without keeping gas on it. I had to drive it almost all the way home using gassed neutral and second gear.

Replaced the AIC and it's plug, then the vacuum hoses to the smog canister, removed and cleaned the throttle body. It's been running nice ever since, and the idle works out afterwarming.

Now that I think about it this may not help that much..Still not clear on what was going on..but I'm guessing how new the AIC and how clean it's compartment is almost always has something to do with this sort of thing.

and actually, you could try setting the idle up high, then reconnecting the AIC and setting it back down again. Probably a waste but oh well.
