what's this relay?

car is an 87 IROC TPI

on the drivers side just in front of the front wheel well. Near the evap canister. mounted on the inner fendr area. it has an Orange, Green and I think 2 Brown wires. could be black. The Orange wire has a rubber(like capacitor or fuse size) thing after about 4 inches of wire then coming out the rubber thing the wire is red.

Who can tell me what this relay is?

Thanks guys

Is it a relay or a fusible link????? The only thing I can think of up there (granted I have a 'Bird) is the fuse holder thing for your fuel pump. If it has a clamp on it, pull it out and it should have a regular car fuse in it. If it is a link, It should look like a tube fuse holder (you cannot open it though).

Hope this helps

I don't know for sure what it is, but it's not the fuel pump relay, that's on the firewall near the brake booster. The black thing you describe sounds like a fusible link. As far as the relay goes, I'm not in my garage but if my memory is correct the only wires up there are for the headlights, washer pump, and cruise control. I know the headlights use relays and I believe other cars have them up there behind the headlights.

OK I agree that the black rubber thing is likely a fusible link. It looks larger in diameter than a fusible link but my main concern is the relay. I know for sure that it is a relay. It even has the diagram on the top if showing which wires are which.

As for the firebird relation....... does your firebird have a drivers side battery?

Mine is on the pass side. I do have a fuse on the pass side that mounts nearly a direct opposite (same but on the other side of the car) of this relay. That is probably the fuel pump fuse on the pass side with the battery.

Relay

I don't know I'm just guessing, but it might be the fog light relay.
