Dented TPI Runners
How is it that almost every TPI setup I see has some dents in the runners? What are people doing to cause this frequent mishap?

Did you ever touch one or even look at it the wrong way? I can't figure out how people high polish them. They look ten times heavier than they really are.

I wonder if just the fact they get hot and bend would be it. After all they are fairly thin aluminum.

Dropping one, dropping a wrench on one... tightening the bolts and having the ratchet spin to hit it...etc etc
Like shaggy said, they are thin aluminum. How do you dent a soda can?

I've never seen a set of SLP runners or Accel runners in person. Are they cast aluminum, or are they just as prone to dents as the stock, TPIS, and Arizona Speed & Marine runners?
I used to own the Arizona Speed and Marine runners, but I was very careful when working around them.

Only the stock f-body runners are very thin. Even the vette style runners like came on the late 92 cars are a little thicker and don't dent easily.

I was actually lucky enough to get my IROC with mint-condition runners. The reason mine got screwed up was because I thought they were seized on when I was trying to remove them, so I tried to "unseize" them with a rubber mallet. Turned out, I didn't see the one or two screws that you have to get from underneath the plenum.
