LT4 hotcam...too big?

Alright all, I stumbled across a good deal on an LT4 hotcam a few months ago, and ended up purchasing for a great price. Well, what I was wondering is if that cam is too much for stock L98 heads. I have full exhaust, 2800 stall converter, and TBI (Don't flame, just thought ya'll would know more about this motor than other boards.) Well, I was wondering if I will see any gains from this swap, or should I put it off for about 12 months till I can afford my AFR and Superram swap...I think my cam is causing my motor to stop pulling around the 4500rpm mark, and I would like it to pull up to 6000. So, would I gain power from swapping, or should I wait??? I would appreciate any replies.

I dont know much about this topic, but from what I have read on the rest of the board, if you want it to pull past 6000, start with intake. The TBI im sure is greatly restricting airflow. The cam will help without a doubt im sure, but the pulling closer to 6000 most likely wont happen with the induction of the TBI. You could even go the Stealth Ram route for now since it is cheaper, and then when you decide to sell it, I'll buy it. That will sell real quick if you still want to go your Super Ram route and arent satisfied with the HSR which most people are satisfied. Well hopefully someone else will chime in here and give this guy some real info to use. Im fairly new at learning about our awesome cars.

I know you're right, but the fact is I have a quite highly modified TBI, that's why I trap around 98 in the quarter. But it seems to stop pulling around 4500rpm up. I will one day convert to one of those systems, but right now I don't have the money. I was thinking of using John Millican's LT1 intake, a speed density computer, and wiring harness, and some accell 24# injectors. That should make me run fairly well, I just don't like to think of the thought of converting that over right now. Also, does anyone know what hp the factory fuel lines are good to. Thanks.

the lt4 hot cam is very good and is not to big. the only problem being that your tbi or tpi set up wont flow enuff to use that hightend rpm range. tpi chokes off after 5k if untouched. Cam might change how much, but at around 5k everything is like rushour in NYC, jammed... a carb or aftermarket intake is the way to go. make sure you get 1.6 rr's to fully optomize the lift and durration of the cam, also have a PROM programed for your set up.

Thanks for the advice. I plan on running a holley TBI unit, so that won't be my limitation. Also, I'm going to run those pro-magnum full roller rockers since I found a good deal on them. I'm just glad to hear that this should help my car out. Thanks.
