Want out of 15's on a low budget-AFPR Question

Does anyone have any suggestions on how much a AFPR will make on my stock 91' LB9 700R4 T/A GTA? Im running a 15.20@90. What to get on a $300 budget for the next 2 weeks.

IMO the first thing you should always do is free up the exhaust. And a good tune on everything. Just my .02

His object is to run faster. Flowmaster will not help you run faster. Like gotti said, free up the exhaust. Flowmaster is too restrictive. Not as restrictive as the stock exhaust but not much better. Do all the free mods, and get a 3" catback the is high flowing with the high flow cat.

nice run. i did 15.318 at 91mph so i KNOW i can get lower then what im at now. Free mods is the name of the game. Make a CAI, port the plenum and base, TB coolant bypass, maybe advance the timming a tad. That is as low budget as you can get. Make a ram air set up, and maybe lose some weight in the car and you could hit 14's. Headers, hi flow cat, and then a full 3in exhaust all the way back... then you might hang around mid 14's. good luck. look at my sig to see what im trying to do to brake my 15 times.

The air is not going to be a problem for you unless you have it running. Removing it is not going to make you faster. You will save a little weight but not enough to go faster, but if you do want it gone you will have to get an AC delete pulley. CAI is cold air intake. 91 means you have Speed Density so you will be able to route a tube from your throttle body to the passanger side of your engine compartment with a cone filter on there to pull colder air from the outside in instead of the warm air from the engine. You can get a catback exhaust without cats. It is just dubbed catback because most of the states have emission laws requiring a cat. I would say your best bet for that $300 is to get a 3" exhaust system. Porting your plenum is easy and free look in the Tech articles on the main page to find out about the free mods.

Check my sig to see what put me into the 13's. My stock time was 15.4. Are you running street tires or drags? I dropped .4 with drags.

So deleting the A.I.R. and the a/c isnt gonna make a difference?
Getting Headers and a 3" catback can possibly take a 10th off?
Besides tempature would a tube inbetween the Throttle body and the air filter make a difference than a filter just being on the throttle body?

Maybe 3-4 tenths if you get the right headers and catback.

#1 you will def gain at least a .10 th in the quater if you take off your ac and air. at least a .10th if not more. with all the ac stuff out, thats a LOT of weight you lost. You dont need AIR since you dont have a cat so you can take that off. a "tube" from the tb to the filter would be a cai or cold air induction. Do a search in the tpi board for firebird cai's. baiscly all you need is some pvc or you can get exhaust parts and clamp the cone filter on the end of it. make sure its far away from the engine as possible, like in the stock spot. It will be cheaper then if you got one from SLP. that will give you deeper breathing at least, and cold air in the engine wont hurt either. next, a full cat back(with or without cat) and headers will be a great mod. all that will def get you into the 14's. good luck. PM if you need anymore help.
