I have two 305 motors one was from and 85 camaro casting 14040203 and the other was from an 86 casting 14088551.
Both are using the 416 heads. They both are TPI engines. My question is about the blocks. They have an LG 5.0 stamped on both of them.
In the tech data the engine code is LB9 for the TPI engines not LG. I am missing something or does the LG on the block stand for something else?

Mortec will ID a casting #, but the site does not give details on the engine applications or letter codes.
