swapping to 350 or 383 depending on $$$
ok i have an 86 iroc with a lb9 and 700r4. no power options at all...no ttops no p windows locks nothing. not even power hatch. no posi and drum brakes in the rear. ok bought the car for 450. its needs a paint job and a couple dings smoothed, im 16 so was looking for a project. my dads buddy is gunna spray the car and im gunna do the body work. this is my problem. the tranny is on its way out but dumped my other car for some cash and a new tranny. now the 305 when i start it seems to smoke a blueish black smoke. i dont know if its rings or what. car has not even been driven for 2 years and has 106k miles. my first ? is if it is smoking like it is just because it hasnt been ran or is it because somethin is wrong like rings, i drove the car yesterday around the block and it has plenty of power and holds together good throughtout the power band even with the blown tranny. i had it to 5 grand and it was fine. now here is my 2nd ? if a friend of my uncles gives me a 350 4 bolt block what should i do. i have $1500 and want to keep my tpi. do i have to change my comp and injectors or what? i guess my main ? is what does it take to swap the 350 in and what needs to b changed. now what kinda hp would i be able to make with 1500-1750 to spend on parts. i am also trying to get a set of heads off the guy for a couple hundred bc he biulds race motors and has em laying around.(stock l98 heads most likely for now) now my last and final ? is for the xtra money should i biuld a 383 stroker bc the guy with the blocks can also bore the motor for me.any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know a lot about TPI either but I've been reading that a 383 is totally do-able, youll need a 350 block, a stroker crank and some new heads tho. And that's just the start.
