Can I bypass the ecm annd make it spark?

I still connot figure why I have no spark mainly because the wiring diagrams, instructions and manuals I have access to all do not give complete details on the way the ign system and passkey system are wired and how they work. I want to know if I can by pass the computer and make the car run with only the initial timing? I tested the pick up and it checks out ok and I already replaced the cap, rotor and ign module with no luck. Coil might be toast but not sure how I can check it, it is an accel 140008.

My biggest beef is the lack of info avail on the passkey system. I bypassed it by wiring the ign line directly to the gear position sensor when I could not get the car to crank, it now cranks. But there are still a few wires coming out of that are not on any wiring diagram except a dk blue wire is list as going direcrtly from the passkey module to the ecm but that is not how mine is wired now with the bypass module that was installed. Accel lists that it does not use the passkey but I am unsure as to if this is true or if the ign is wired into the passkey somehow.

I don't mind tracing a problem but I am getting very pissed on the lack of info on this.

Any input would help.

test the coil same as you would to see if you are getting spark to the individual plugs... unhook the wire going from the coil to the dist.... get a longer wire if you need, and then have a friend crank the car while you ground the wire out. If it sparks yer coil is fine. I went through 4 coils on my 87 until I finally bought an MSD one, and that one is starting to **** the bed now too, it likes to arc from the body to the metal housing which means there are cracks in it. :-/... anyway, lemme know what wiring diagrams you are actualy looking for, I have the helm manual for my car, but it should be the same for 87, I will try and scan them sometime soon

Yup, was the coil! I tried to find one at a parts store but there are no gearheads at the chain stores (they have to consult the computer to find the *****) and the one decent one near me was closed. I pulled the coil off my vette and it fired right up. Well I know my car's wiring a little better now at least. I sure would like to know how running over skunk craps out the coil?

Thanks
