After Header Install

First off, I have a 94 Z28 with an LT1, figured you guys might be off some assistance.

Okay, guys, I installed my Hooker shorties and the car runs like total CRAP! I then replaced the O2s and all the plugs with ACs. I rechecked all the wires and EGR fittings. The car still runs like CRAP! It lacks power so bad that it cant even get wheel. The engine sounds like it almost has a piston slap. The car ran great before the install.

Before removing the old exhaust manifolds I disconnected the alternator. However, I forgot to disconnect the battery first. There was quite a large ground out when I made contact with the bolt on the back. Is it possible I sent a surge through the system and shorted something out? Like maybe the ECM? No SES though...What the hell is wrong???

Of course it's possible but it's hard to say. If you say it sounds like a piston slap that's very strange. You're sure it's not a misfire, right?

I removed the wires one side at a time and labeled them 1-4. 1 being the front and 4 being the back. Everyone seems to think its somewhere in the ignition....

I have the full MAC system with headers and off road pipe on my 94 Formula and you have to reprogram after install because it goes rich.

Mike: (newbie question here) Why would the computer cause the system to go rich after installing headers and/or exhaust? Sure there'd be more exhaust gasses, but that shouldn't affect the air/fuel ratio as the O2 sensor reads it, right?

Okay guys, I found that the number six cylinder is not firing. The optispark was replaced three years ago. What would cause this??

My guess is the short you had blew out something, possible damaging the optispark. If #6 isnt firing check all the connections from the plug to the unit.

If the opti wasn't touched during the install, I doubt it is the culprit. My guess is something with the plug or wire.

I found that the wire, at the boot and underneath had its insulation exposed which I assume was grounding it out. Thanks For All The Help!
