timing on stock 5.7

timing on stock 5.7
I was wondering if I could go from 6 to 12 base timing?? I have heard of other's doing this, just wondering if it helps. I have internally stock 5.7 with all of the bolt-on's and run between 13.8 and 13.7 at the track, I want a 13.5 before the motor is rebuilt this winter!!
