Best heads for 305?

I am looking at getting the S/R Torquer 305 heads but are there any that are better for a good price? The Torquer 305 heads come completely assembled for $540/set. I have looked at AFR and Trickflow but I couldn't find any for a 305 (58cc).

I have them and I also, port and polished them. They were a great!!! upgrade. In fact my car was slow as **** with my mods it will now beat my dads 85 vette easily. I have other mods also, see sig, however, I have a siameased base and the engine will pull till 5500 with out a problem. I need to get it on a dyno to see how it preforms, not just seat of the pants meter.

Did you port and polish them yourself or have someone else do it? How much did it cost?

AFR 180's can be ordered for a 305, they put 1.94/1.55 valves in them to clear the bore vs. the std. 2.02/1.60's. Also, they can be milled down to around 50-52cc IIRC. They won't be cheap though, but they will work well.

why not just get a 350 motor. make the most use out of your probuilt 700r4.

HAHA 305 rock the house !!

anyway, SR's are the only 305 after market head, unless you count the heads you can buy off th ZZ4 that are really just the vette heads... SR's have the most meat to port the hell out of, just dont go crazy. There is a good artical in... i think it was PHR on what to look for and what not to do when porting. AFR's are $$$$ and no way im spending 1200 on a set of heads, even for a 350 unless its gunna give me some mucho power. J, where did you see 540/a set? were they thoes ones on ebay? i wish i had the money for thoes, i could finaly do my engine stuff.... oh well.

Bigals, that is the price from Summit. That is the cheapest that I have seen an assembled set other than the ones on ebay and shipping was going to be too much. Summit has free shipping and a 10% discount until the end of the month. Now if I could just decide between the 212/218 or the 218/224 cam.

I didn't think you could still get AFR heads for a 305..I wouldn't go with a stock replacement head..even if there is alot to port..

actualy the SR's are nothing like stock... the intake valve is bigger and the valves are better, spring can take more lift, intake runners flow more, and a 30-40hp gain over stock doesnt make them stock replacements... and a 305 doesnt need that much port to make them flow that much better. the only things i see that the stock heads and the SR heads that match up are the exhaust valve size, chamber, and that it bolts to a 305...
