Question about 1986 iroc-z
Question about 1986 iroc-z
Can anyone tell me if an 86 iroc-z with a 305 tpi engine and automatic tranny is fast. If so how fast. I've heard it has 190 hp, would this car be able to do a burnout. How big is the difference between the 305 and the 350 engine.

Well. Burnout, sure it can do a burnout. A V6 car in good running order can do a burnout. I think i even saw a TBI car do a burnout once.
Fast. Not even close. A stock 86 will run pretty much high 15s at best, and 16s aren't out of the question. You HAVE to swap the cam in one of those cars to get it to do anything.

85 Irocs had a good cam, but a ****ty computer. 86 irocs had a weak cam and a slightly improved computer>!>!>!>! Doesn't make up for going from 215 hp in 85, to 190 in 86. my friends 85 305 tpi ran a pretty consistent 16 flat and it was rather healthy. Pretty stock though. I would say from stop light to stop light it might be a fun car, but half way down the track or at some freeway speeds, it wouldn't be hard to pass up.
